I: Campus Radio Station

A radio station. Who knew that Southern could have one, right? While looking at it online, I found it to be very interesting. It broadcasts news around Southern, activities and events and provide entertainment to the students of SCSU. It also gives students who want to go into the radio broadcasting field the experience of a radio station. I listened to one show and found it very cool and I really liked it, I would want to watch another one in the future. Overall, I like the campus radio station because it gives students something interesting to watch and/or listen to.

V: What is Inquiry?

What is inquiry? The dictionary definition of inquiry is “a seeking or request for truth, information, or knowledge.” But that word has more meaning to it than that. To me, inquiry means questioning something, or being curious about something. In our class we are going to be learning about how to be critical thinkers and how to be an involved college student. Everyone is curious about college and what to expect from it. We are going to be learning and discovering new things in our college years. So far our class doesn’t know a lot about inquiry yet, we may know a small definition but not a bigger definition which we will get to know later.

Blog B: What's in a Blog?

Blogging is an interesting and fun thing to do because it can be done in many ways. Looking over the different blog types I saw many different things. The one that I found most interesting was the blog with many pictures on it. This blog I liked because the pictures made it seem more interesting to me (the reader). It is a blog about food and recipes that came with pictures for each one. There was nothing else on it, it kept strictly to the one topic. The other two blogs are about people’s personal lives, opinions and everyday thoughts. Those were interesting to read because some of the posts also had links to other websites and information the writer was writing about. On one blog there was links on the top of the page to things such as "Contact" and "About us", so the website was split into different parts. I liked that because you can visit all the tabs and see other information. Another thing I liked about one blog was that in some posts there were inspirational words and thoughts as some of the posts. The people who wrote the blog liked to express their feelings and beliefs, and I really like that about it. For my blog I want it to be interesting, fun and unique. I want each entry to have different thoughts on it with specific details. There will be pictures and links to make the blog even more entertaining and one of a kind. My blog will be useful to others because the information I write in it some people can relate to, such as college students like me. Some of them will have the same thoughts as me and some of the same experiences. Overall, I want this blog to be special and a good part of my college experience.

Blog A: What's a College?

College. Just the word brings many different thoughts to everyone's heads. The workload, the campus, the professors, the courses...are just a few thoughts that arise in people’s minds. Like any other first day of school, it brings anxiety to a lot of people. But college is an even bigger anxiety for most people. Will I make new friends? Will I do well in my courses? What happens if I am late to class? If you're a commuter like I am, your thoughts may be different than those who are living on campus. You may need to arrive earlier to get parking and then walk to your classes. You're more worried about making friends than those who live on campus. Students on campus have a roommate that they may (Or may not) become friends with, but they also have more time to hang out with people or meet up with other classmates living on campus. Going to college accomplishes many things. First, you get a degree which makes getting a job in the future easier. Have you ever heard someone say something such as “You’re not going to college? Have fun working at McDonald’s the rest of your life!” That is not necessarily true. Many people without college degrees get good jobs; however, if you have a degree you are at a higher chance of getting a raise or an even better job.  My thoughts are that you go to college, do well, and get a good job for the rest of your life. But college is different than high school, so I will have to work hard. My goals are getting A’s in most if not all of my classes, to meet new people and establish new friendships, and have the best college experience possible. Will there be challenges? Of course, because the work that comes with college is much more than high school, but I will try my best and succeed!
