College. Just the word brings many different thoughts to
everyone's heads. The workload, the campus, the professors, the courses...are
just a few thoughts that arise in people’s minds. Like any other first day of
school, it brings anxiety to a lot of people. But college is an even bigger
anxiety for most people. Will I make new friends? Will I do well in my
courses? What happens if I am late to class? If you're a commuter like I am,
your thoughts may be different than those who are living on campus. You may
need to arrive earlier to get parking and then walk to your classes. You're
more worried about making friends than those who live on campus. Students on
campus have a roommate that they may (Or may not) become friends with, but they
also have more time to hang out with people or meet up with other classmates
living on campus. Going to college accomplishes many things. First, you get a
degree which makes getting a job in the future easier. Have you ever heard
someone say something such as “You’re not going to college? Have fun working at
McDonald’s the rest of your life!” That is not necessarily true. Many people
without college degrees get good jobs; however, if you have a degree you are at
a higher chance of getting a raise or an even better job. My thoughts are that you go to college, do
well, and get a good job for the rest of your life. But college is different
than high school, so I will have to work hard. My goals are getting A’s in most
if not all of my classes, to meet new people and establish new friendships, and
have the best college experience possible. Will there be challenges? Of course,
because the work that comes with college is much more than high school, but I
will try my best and succeed!
